Mr. Sidney H. Evans Jr is the founder and CEO of Madisan Mackenzie, LLC, a management consulting firm founded in 2009. The firm’s primary focus is the Higher Education and Not for Profit markets. The firm’s capabilities are financial organizational development, corporate finance and asset management, investment consulting for endowment and pension plans and financial strategic planning. The company’s goal is “Facilitating Long-Range Strategic objectives”.

 

Prior to the start of his company, Mr. Evans served as the Senior Vice President, CFO and Treasurer for Howard University from 2005-2009. Mr. Evans brings with him over 30 years as a financial management professional in the Corporate, Banking, Government, Not-for-Profit and Higher Education industries.  He has experience as a Chief Financial strategist in a range of specific areas including, accounting, budgeting, cash management, debt management, investments, procurement, risk management, strategic planning and capital budgeting. Mr. Evans has been successful in transforming organizations from a financial perspective with special emphases on re-engineering, organizational restructure projects and unique turnaround projects.  Further Mr. Evans has been instrumental in developing new and innovative capital structures along with developing effective investment strategies. As CFO of Howard University, Mr. Evans was responsible for the $900 million operating budget for Hospital and University along with the management of $1.4 billion of assets.

 

Prior to joining Howard University, Mr. Evans served a number of organizations in many different capacities.  In addition to serving as a Chief Financial Officer for two other organizations, he served as a director for a portfolio company of a Private Equity firm. In this role, Mr. Evans was instrumental in the enhanced value of the company, which led to a triumphant exit strategy. In addition, his role as a Chief Investment Officer has afforded Mr. Evans the opportunity to better understand complex investment and financial strategies.  This experience was very helpful during Mr. Evans’ role as Chairman of a municipal defined benefit pension plan.  Additionally, Mr. Evans has issued and managed debt transactions totaling over $1 billion, including both corporate and municipal debt instruments.

 

Prior to becoming a Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Evans served as the Director of Financial Analysis and Budget for Howard University, which entailed the management of both the University and Hospital budgets.  He also served as a Manger and Assistant Controller with Unisys Corporation, working on the Corporate CFO staff for this $10 billion company.  Mr. Evans started his career as a commercial banking officer with Citibank and Wachovia bank.

 

In the marketplace, Mr. Evans is viewed as a skilled financial executive with extensive and comprehensive financial expertise.  He has transformed organizations of many different types to meet their future desired state.  He has been influential in providing strategic financial leadership to organizations.  Mr. Evans is innovative, ethical, and a seasoned financial leader with superior analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Mr. Evans graduated from the prestigious Deerfield Academy and later from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.  He received his Master of Business Administration from the University Of Pittsburgh Katz School Of Business with a Finance specialty.  He has an investment certification from the Harvard Graduate school of Business and is a member of the Oxford Roundtable of England.

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Evans has been a great community steward having served on 12 not-for profit boards.  He has supported the interest of every community where he has lived.  He currently serves on the board of Deerfield Academy.  Additionally, Mr. Evans is a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, a professional business organization, National Association of Black Accountants, National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Financial Executive International.
